Introduction:
As the Design Director of SETAG yachts, Sarah Luck brings a wealth of experience and a keen eye for timeless design. Her passion for creating spaces that marry heritage with modern luxury has positioned SETAG at the forefront of yacht interiors. Reflecting on the design trends she identified at the start of 2024 in a previous article – Slow Interior Design, Patterns & Tiles, and Earthy Colour Palettes – Sarah notes how these ideas have evolved and matured into more confident and enduring expressions for 2025.
“When trends deepen and develop as these have,” Sarah explains, “it’s a clear sign they’re here to stay.” Let’s explore how these concepts continue to shape both homes and yachts, and why they resonate so strongly with those who value thoughtful, lasting design.
The Timeless Interior
The idea of “slow interior design,” which gained traction early in 2024, has fully permeated magazines, social media, and, ultimately, homes. This movement celebrates original features and furnishings, with many homeowners choosing to restore or reinstate elements lost to the minimalist trends of recent decades. Slow interior design emphasises future-proofing—creating a foundational aesthetic that transcends fleeting trends. Achieving this requires an understanding of a building’s inherent design language.
For older homes, this might involve restoring ornate mouldings, covings, or cast-iron radiators. In mid-century properties, it could mean celebrating period details like interior archways, burr timber accents, or even a dramatic stone chimney breast.
This philosophy applies just as well to yachts. A yacht’s original design language should not only be considered but, wherever possible, enhanced. This approach results in a timeless vessel brimming with character and sophistication.
Bringing Timeless Design to Life
At SETAG, we’ve embraced this philosophy in many of our projects over the past 18 months. One standout example is the refurbishment of a Windy 37, a late-1990s yacht with a stunning interior of cherry gloss timber, much of it still in pristine condition. The original design also featured a high-gloss teak steering wheel and intricately crafted timber vent columns—details too beautiful to discard.
Discover moreRather than replace these features, we built upon them. In the cockpit, we crafted a vintage-inspired helm station, featuring an offset arched dial display upholstered in a rust-red exterior leather. This subtle yet striking addition complements the original gloss wheel, adding depth and a sense of quality. The dash was resprayed in a tone sympathetic to the boat’s heritage, and modern shelving replaced the outdated chart table.
This project is a prime example of how to enhance a yacht’s inherent charm, infuse it with luxury, and achieve enduring appeal.
Keys to Timeless Design:
When embracing the principles of timeless design, there are a few essential points to keep in mind…
- Commitment is key: Avoid “quick fixes” like cheap mouldings, stick-on tiles, or wraps. These shortcuts won’t age well and can detract from the integrity of the original design.
- Prioritise Quality: Enhancing original features should be done with a level of craftsmanship that makes the updates feel like they were always part of the vessel
- Craftsmanship Matters: At SETAG, our team’s expertise ensures superyacht-quality finishes that stand the test of time, elevating any yacht into a masterpiece of timeless luxury.
By respecting and enhancing a yacht’s original design language, we create spaces that feel both authentic and enduring—an aesthetic that’s as relevant today as it will be tomorrow.
Pantone Colour of the Year – Mocha Moose:
For 2025, Pantone has announced its Colour of the Year: Mocha Moose, a deep, soft nude that exudes warmth and subtle sophistication. At first glance, this hue might lack the bold impact we’ve come to associate with Pantone’s annual selections. However, upon closer inspection of trends in both interiors and fashion industries, it becomes clear that Mocha Moose is quietly pervasive – a natural evolution of last year’s embrace of earthy palettes.
As we move through 2025, these palettes will take on a warmer, richer character. Deep browns, ochres, plums, and burgundies have softened into milky, muted tones while retaining their luxurious depth. The era of vivid, acidic hues is firmly behind us, at least in UK interiors. Instead, the focus is on creating spaces that feel grounded, enveloping, and timeless.
At SETAG, this trend resonates deeply. These warm, muted neutrals beautifully complement the timber tones found in most production yachts. By integrating Mocha Moose and its accompanying palette, we can enhance a yacht’s existing design language in a way that feels seamless and sophisticated. This approach aligns perfectly with our philosophy of timeless interiors, ensuring every element works harmoniously to elevate the yacht’s original character.

Colour Drenching
Colour drenching, in its simplest form, involves applying a single colour to the foundational elements of a space—walls, ceilings, cabinetry, and more—to create a unified, rich, and confident backdrop.
This trend has been quietly making its presence felt in high-end residential and superyacht design circles for some time. In 2025, it has gained mainstream appeal, emerging as a bold way to make a dramatic design statement. While its longevity as a trend is uncertain, when executed with high-quality materials and craftsmanship, colour drenching can be truly breathtaking.
One of the most striking examples of this concept is found in the interior of the San Lorenzo Alloy Yacht, designed by Studio Liaigre in 2021. Here, the bold use of black dominates the space, from the headlining and cabinetry to rugs and select furnishings, creating a powerful and dramatic backdrop. This monochromatic palette is enlivened by statement pieces, such as a striking green onyx feature unit and luxurious velvet occasional chairs in bold, block colours.

The exceptional craftsmanship and premium materials in this interior ensure its timeless allure, even as the broader trend of colour drenching may wane. Done well, this approach delivers a level of sophistication and impact that remains memorable for years to come.
Be YOU
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the ultimate trend for 2025 is embracing your personal style. There’s never been a better time to express individuality through design, rejecting colour palettes or elements that don’t feel authentically you. This growing movement towards personalization began with the rise of bold patterns and tiles—a trend I highlighted last year—and has now blossomed into a full embrace of personality-driven interiors.
At SETAG, this philosophy has been at the heart of some of our most exciting projects. During 2024, we worked on several high-end refits where the clients’ unique tastes took centre stage, resulting in stunning, bespoke designs that were as functional as they were bold.
Take, for example, Jam Tart, a 2006 Broom 42. Collaborating closely with the client, we transformed this yacht into a masterpiece of luxury and individuality.
Bold material choices, innovative lighting, and attention to every detail created a truly breathtaking result that felt deeply personal to its owner.
At SETAG, we pride ourselves on making any style work seamlessly ensuring it not only reflects your individuality but also complements the character of your yacht. Because in 2025, the most on-trend design is the one that’s unapologetically you.
