Setag rely on two firms founded locally to their Plymouth base and with world-renowned reputations. Lang & Potter was founded in the heart of the Ancient Stannary Town of Plympton in 1946 by friends Ronald Potter and Fernley Lang. The firm first made its name retrimming automobiles, before expanding into furniture upholstery, yacht trimming and more besides. Still run by the Potter family, under the leadership of David Potter and Rachel Potter (Ronald’s son and granddaughter), today the team is several hundred strong, undertaking projects ranging from sports stadiums to domestic interiors, international retailers to luxury super yachts – which is where their connection with Setag begins, thanks to a personal relationship with Chris Gates going back over 25 years.

The experience, skill, know-how and dedication of a family-run business chimes with our own passion for working with talent that cuts no corners and always pays attention to the finer details. ‘At Lang & Potter we are lucky enough to work on a vast array of projects that allow us to hone our knowledge and skills across a breadth of materials and fillings,’ they explain. Furthermore, they share our commitment to sustainability and responsible manufacturing processes wherever possible. ‘As the world we live in is suffering more than ever with non-recyclable and toxic waste, we are certain that the future of upholstery must lay with innovative, recycled, natural and organic materials,’ they add. ‘We realise it is our responsibility to ensure we are moving towards a sustainable future. To help achieve this we are working with true experts in natural fibres. Fibres that would otherwise have gone to waste get turned into strong, reliable upholstery fillings backed by The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). With the huge variety of natural materials on offer we are confident we can achieve any look and comfort level you wish for, and without the harmful chemicals!’

Similarly, we share a strong relationship with Vispring, going back at least two decades. Put simply, a Vispring bed is much more than a supremely comfortable mattress. With over 100 years of experience, Vispring have never wavered from their original philosophy of using the best craftsmanship and quality materials to produce the finest beds in the world. The exclusive combination of spring size, tension and resilience with the finest materials nature has to offer, together with the uniqueness of their know-how, result in the most luxurious handmade beds.

There are a number of unique innovations that Vispring have introduced that ensure they are the best in the business – not least the honeycomb pattern of pocket springs, hand-nested by master craftsmen that maximises support. This intricate technique takes many years to perfect, providing perfect edge-to-edge support and improving mattress longevity.
The very ultimate in luxury is, for us, relaxing in the finest custom beds ever made as you bob gently on the waves. And since we spend a third of a lifetime in bed, why choose anything less?
