Imagine walking into your dream home and just accepting you have to live with the previous owner’s taste in design. The first thing anybody wants to do is to stamp their own personality on the place where they will spend most of their time. Which is exactly why SETAG make their bespoke interior design service a vital element of their luxury yacht refit business.
“I start every project by getting to know a bit about our client’s lifestyle and their thoughts for the function of the space. With this I then build up a sense of the mood they are trying to achieve via an abstract colour and texture concept,” explains Sarah Luck, SETAG’s Director of Design.
Luck has built an enviable reputation in the interior design sector, first as Creative Design Consultant at leading luxury yacht manufacturer Princess Yachts, and latterly as the founder of Mippin & Reet. She describes the process as “A beautifully tailored and creative journey from initial meeting to product proposals, that really allows our clients to understand exactly why we have suggested elements and how they will create the feeling they want to achieve.”
For Alexis Rollings-Walsh and Adam Greenwood, SETAG’s two Creative Designers, the approach is about always emphasising the bespoke – the fact that the interiors can be completely refurbished exactly to the customer’s tastes. ‘Listening and collaborating with the client is always the most exciting part of the process,’ says Rollings Walsh. ‘My approach… is always to fully understand the customer,’ says Greenwood.
The fact that Rollings-Walsh and Greenwood previously held interior design roles at Sunseeker and Fairline yachts means that they intimately appreciate the particular demands of maximising space in luxury yachts – and guarantees that whatever boat is being refitted, we have an expert on hand who will know the particular brand – and model – inside out.
