Discover the answers below to our most Frequently Asked Questions.
1. What is the process of working together?
The process usually involves an enquiry from a potential client – either via phone, email or social media. We then start an initial consultation where we gather more information on the potential clients wants & requirements for the refit, an idea on ballpark budgets, receive images/videos of the yacht in her current condition.
Once we have received all the above, our team can work on a ballpark budget range – if this is within your thinking, we then arrange a visit to the boat with a designer and the relevant team members to start a detailed proposal with material selection & design.
This allows us to create a more accurate estimate for the work. If this estimate is acceptable to you, we ask for a small holding deposit so we can allocate the time within our schedule to begin planning your refit. Allowing us to understand the completion date, which everyone is eager to know.
Once we have finalised the work content, material specification & design, all tailored to your bespoke needs, we then begin with our stage payment process to ensure the flow of materials ahead of their required date to allow the project to run smoothly & on time.
Refit execution. We can either complete our design & refit work on your berth, or we can arrange for your yacht to be brought to our HQ in Plymouth.
Final delivery. We pride ourselves on our ability to produce high-quality “factory standard” refits within, on average, 5-6 weeks. Meaning we can return your beloved new yacht back to you within just over a month, ready for your enjoyment.
Every step is tailored to your specific needs.
2. How much will the refit cost?
A refit by SETAG is there to add value. It should be a way to future-proof your yacht and make it reflect your taste, personality and needs.
It is near impossible to say a figure as the individual project costs vary depending on the scope of the work content and materials selected by the client. However, the cost of any work is justified by the proportionally far larger increase it adds to the value of the vessel.

Contact us5. How long is the process from start to finish?
The timeline varies hugely by project, depending on the work content within the project, the materials selected & their lead-time – but typically, our projects range from a month to 6 months, depending on complexity.
6. What is the need for a refit?
A refit is not just a solution to your challenges – but instead it’s protecting your investment. A sensible way of buying, instead of solving a challenge once you’ve bought it. Why compromise? Why live with the previous owners tastes & specification when the ultimate level of luxury is personalisation. That’s what a genuine refit should be about: the opportunity to stamp your character and taste on not just your most prized possession, but something that ought to feel like a home from home.
The reasons for a design & refit project and the age of the yachts we have remastered, are as varied as the vessels and the owners themselves. Many owners love their yachts and how they look externally, and simply outgrown the interior. We have carried out refits on yachts between brand new – 40 years old.
7. Does SETAG only offer aesthetic refits or engineering as well?
SETAG offers both aesthetic and engineering refits, providing comprehensive refurbishment services.
8. What services does SETAG offer?
We offer a one-stop-shop level of service & have the expertise to address any issue you may wish to address. We can offer the full package, but all of our projects are bespoke to our clients who decide the work content. In a ‘tongue & cheek’ way – we like to say that the only restrictions are budget & imagination.
For ease, to list a few – full interior & exterior refurbishment includes but not limited to – upholstery, navigation, lighting, audio & visual, electronics, engineering, teak decks, interior & exterior painting, engine services, engine replacement, air-conditioning, accessories packages, general maintenance (anti foul etc) and much more.
Our design credentials is our USP, so we don’t just recover an existing piece, we re-design.
9. Does SETAG only work with Princess, Sunseeker or Fairline?
Whilst we specialise in these 3 top brands, as that’s where our team’s expertise lies, throughout our years we have tackled various other brands as well and are competent to address all motor yacht brands.
10. How involved do I need to be in the process?
Client involvement is welcomed but optional. You can be as involved as you wish, from initial planning to final touches. Most often, we see significant client engagement early in the process when we are designing the look & feel along with the specifications and material selection then as the project processes through the journey, we see less involvement until the final sign off stage. But this is individual preference & we welcome any level of involvement.
11. Can I join the SETAG team?
Yes, SETAG is always looking for skilled professionals to join our team. Discover our contact page for current opportunities.
