This Princess 42 is a perfect example of SETAG’s collaborative design approach. Rather than following trends or conventional yacht styling rules, the project focused entirely on creating an interior that reflected the owners themselves — expressive, confident and full of character.
Inspired by the balance of craftsmanship and creativity, the clients began searching for a yacht specifically to bring to SETAG for a complete transformation. From the first conversation at Southampton Boat Show to the final installation, their chosen Princess 42 became the perfect canvas for a highly personal full refit.

From the outset, the brief was clear: this interior needed to feel expressive, layered and full of character. The owners had a strong love of colour, texture and contrast, embracing clashing fabrics, unexpected material pairings and statement finishes that would turn the yacht into something entirely unique to them.
The transformation of the saloon captures exactly what this refit was intended to achieve — a lighter, more contemporary interior that still feels warm, inviting and full of personality. While the original space relied heavily on traditional gloss timber and uniform cream finishes, the redesigned saloon introduces softness, contrast and texture through carefully layered materials and a far more refined palette.

The updated interior now feels brighter, calmer and considerably more sophisticated, while still retaining the character and craftsmanship of the original yacht.
The entire Lower Helm and Console Pod have been stripped & sprayed, along with new instrument panels. A new steering wheel and reupholstered helmseats finish this area into a contemporary, inviting modern space.
The Upper Helm has also had new instrument panels, new i70s and a new steering wheel. We have also upgraded both helms to proportional bow truster controls.

The Forward Cabin headlining has been reupholstered, along with the aft bulkhead and upper and lower headboards to both cabins.

To elevate a production-built Monte Carlo MC5 through a considered refit focused on material quality, finish, and longevity.
The intention was to redefine perception through detail:
The MC5 platform provides a strong foundation for a refit, or as we say – is “a good donor boat”:
However, after years of use, the yacht presented typical signs of ageing:

The opportunity was in elevating the finish rather than altering form.

A completely redesigned headboard transforms both the look and feel of the entire cabin. The original dark uninspiring headboard has been replaced with a unique, light, upholstered headboard featuring subtle vertical detailing. This update softens the overall aesthetic, introduces texture, and enhances comfort, creating a brighter, more contemporary and inviting space.
Additional leather inserts complete the cabin refresh.

The exterior shifts from a dated spec to a clean, modern and inviting space for entertaining. The dash change from gold detailing to black is particularly impactful – it removes a key “age marker” and aligns the boat with current designs.

Taking an older vessel recognised for its robustness, reliability, and great navigability – ideal for both family cruises and fishing trips or recreational sailing…and creating a modern, quality and luxurious finish.
Like many early-2000s production yachts, the original interior featured heavy upholstery and beige-dominated tones. While structurally sound and well laid out, the Saloon felt visually tired and no longer aligned with modern owner expectations.
Each element of the refit was selected to modernise the space without overpowering it.

A key decision in this refit was the preservation of the original joinery. Rather than replacing the high-quality woodwork, we refinished and rebalanced it against a lighter, softer interior palette – a choice that maintains the Rodman’s character while elevating its quality and feel.
The finished interior feels bright, calm and modern.
A SETAG refit gives years of use and enjoyment to the owners, and also delivers a substantial uplift in perceived value – positioning this Rodman competitively alongside far newer vessels on the market.
Intelligent modernisation, respect for original craftsmanship, and uncompromising attention to detail.
Rather than following trends, the focus remains on timeless design, quality execution, and results that genuinely improve the owner experience.
Alongside the interior transformation, SETAG Yachts delivered a series of comprehensive engineering and systems upgrades designed to improve reliability, usability, and long-term ownership confidence.
The refit included replacement of the onboard toilet system with new pipework throughout the vessel, enhancing performance and future-proofing critical systems. An engine-room camera was installed to provide clear monitoring from the helm, while integrated audio-visual upgrades included a concealed up/down television and Fusion sound system linked to the saloon. Feature lighting was engineered throughout, saloon air-conditioning upgraded for improved comfort, and the helm panels resprayed to restore a clean, modern finish.
The project was completed with full pick-up and delivery, providing a seamless turnkey service that removed complexity and stress for the client from start to finish.
“Thanks again for all your help. You have a fabulous product in SETAG, with so many exciting opportunities to broaden that offer further. I wish you the very best of luck and look forward to SETAG growing from strength to strength. We shall of course recommend SETAG at every opportunity to friends in the marina. “ – Rodman 41 Owner.
